Westerville North High School names Owens as head football coach
Coach brings variety of experience, history of winning to program
(March 23, 2009) Westerville North High School Athletic Director Jeff Will today announced that Michael Owens, former offensive coordinator for Hilliard Darby High School, has been selected as as Head Coach of the Westerville North High School varsity football team.
Currently teaching Wellness courses at Metro High School, Owens brings 13 years of coaching experience, along with a history of winning and program improvements, to the Westerville North program. He has served as an Assistant Varsity Football Coach and Head Junior Varsity Football Coach at Finneytown High School, Assistant Varsity Football Coach at Elder High School in Cincinnati, Head Varsity Football Coach at Mechanicsburg High School, and Offensive Coordinator at Hilliard Darby High School.
"The Westerville North staff, faculty and students woul like to welcome Mike Owens to the Warrior family," said Will. "Mike's excitement and experience are indicative of the path and vision we have for the Warrior football program."
Owens' leadership at these programs contributed to a Division I State Championship in 2003 for Elder High School; an 11-2 record, regional Team of the Year honors, numerous school records and player honors, seven students continuing their football careers in college, and a Regional Finalist playoff appearance for Mechanicsburg; and an 11-2 record, first-ever Ohio Capital Conference title and playoff appearance, numerous school records and player honors, and a Regional Finalist playoff appearance for Hilliard Darby.
